CANADIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP AND ITALIAN AESTHETICS AT THEIR FINEST
Kitchen design is a complex topic with many factors to consider such as the work triangle, creating a focal point, walkway clearances and more. However, there are far more nuances to consider when designing a modern kitchen from scratch. One such factor is creating visual balance and symmetry in your kitchen space. There are 3 primary ways to achieve this striking balance. In this blog, Nima Kitchens, a leading contemporary kitchen and bath manufacturer in Vaughan, presents three ways to transform your space into the epitome of beauty and visual harmony.
A symmetrically balanced kitchen is considered a gold standard. What makes a kitchen symmetrical? Take a focal point, such as a table and place your chairs, cabinets and other decor symmetrically around this central point. Dazzle your guests with your perfectly balanced kitchen design with a few simple tweaks.
Not a fan of a perfectly symmetrical kitchen? Asymmetrical balance is something you can consider. For instance, if one side of the kitchen has all the main appliances and features such as refrigerators, pantry and tall cabinets, you can match out the other side too with suspended wall cabinets of the same hue. Although one side is visually stronger, matching the cabinetry on both sides reduces the optical imbalance, and creates a sense of asymmetrical balance to the space.
How do you create radial balance in a modern kitchen? You can do it primarily through appropriate lighting and furniture arrangement. Add a round dining table as a focal point to the space, and place round chairs and other circular decor of progressively smaller size as the eyes move away from the table. Conversely, opt for a circular chandelier or statement lighting right above the dining table, complemented by a radial centerpiece on the table to draw the eyes outward.
In the next blog, we will address the importance of scale and proportion while designing or revamping a kitchen.
